DANNY BONNICI
Melbourne | Nubreed • Balance • Vapour Recordings
For more than two decades, Danny Bonnici has been at the forefront of Australian underground electronic music. Emerging from Melbourne’s legendary progressive and breaks scene as a founding member of Nubreed, Bonnici helped create a sound that travelled far beyond Australia. Nubreed’s explosive live performances became fixtures of clubs and major festivals including Big Day Out and Two Tribes, while their music found support from some of the biggest names in progressive electronic music.
As a producer, Bonnici’s music has been championed by Sasha, John Digweed and Hernán Cattáneo, with his
career taking him from Melbourne’s underground clubs to international venues including London’s legendary
Fabric. His 2003 collaboration with Luke Chable, “Ride,” became an important record of the era and helped establish Bonnici internationally. His productions and remixes have since appeared across labels including Renaissance, Global Underground, MOB, Vicious Vinyl, Balance Music and Vapour Recordings, alongside nominations connected to both the Australian Dance Music Awards and ARIA Awards.
Behind the decks is only part of the story, Danny is one of Australia’s pioneering Ableton Certified Trainers and the engineer behind Liquid Mixes, where his mixing and mastering work has included ARIA-winning artists and internationally respected electronic labels.
Producer first, DJ second, his sets carry the same attention to detail, musicality and experimentation that has
defined his studio career. In 2025, Danny joined an international lineup at Balance Croatia, reconnecting him with the global progressive community alongside artists who have helped define the genre. Recent releases on Vapour Recordings demonstrate that more than twenty years after Nubreed first emerged, Bonnici is still pushing forward.
And now he’s coming to Adelaide.
